Judy Beyer

Judy Beyer HeadshotHow many of you still remember opening a new box of Crayola Crayons, inhaling that unique aroma, and then being awed by the rows of beautiful colors peeking up at you? This is the first memory I have of wanting to create something with color.

That fascination hasn’t changed, just the stimulas and the medium. The color of nature constantly changing with the flow of light, the changing of the seasons, flowers back lit by the sun, subtle changes in value from sunlight to shadow, are a few of the stimuli that inspire me to transpose nature to paper. When observing my surroundings no matter where I am, it can be frustrating at times to realize all the possibilities of subjects to paint, but so little time.

Born and raised in Atwater, Wisconsin, Judy has moved frequently. She has taken courses and workshops nationally and internationally as opportunities arose. This also allowed her to study under a variety of noted artists such as Dawn McLeod Heim, and Lian Quan Zhen (including a painting trip to China). She is currently a student of Jean Crane, Cedarburg, WI.

Judy’s work has been exhibited at The Emilie G. Gruppe Gallery, Jerhico, VT; The Museum of Wisconsin Art, West Bend, WI; The Lake Country Gallery, Pewaukee, WI; Charles Wustum Museum of Fine Arts, Racine, WI; The University of Wisconsin Pyle Center, Madison, WI; University of Whitewater, Whitewater, WI; The Seippel Homestead and Center for the Arts, Beaver Dam, WI; The Women’s Club, Elm Grove, WI; Bank of America, Pleasanton, CA; Great Western Bank, Danville, CA;Tracy Art League, Tracy, CA; Fort Bend County Exhibit, TX; Oklahoma State University, Edmond, OK.

Judy is the recipient of awards from The League of Milwaukee Artists, Wisconsin Regional Artists Association, Watercolor Wisconsin, and Fort Bend County Exhibit.

Judy is a member of the League of Milwaukee Artists, Milwaukee, WI; Beaver Dam Artist Association, Beaver Dam, WI; and the Wisconsin Regional Artists Association, Madison, WI.
